Baby, don't cry

The song was White Flag by Madeline Adams. Have you ever heard her? Her music means quite a bit to me for much of the same reasons I mentioned for French Quarter a couple of comics back. You can find some of her live sets here - I particularly liked the live at the lobby recording.

What's with all these comics about the music I listen to lately? Weird.

Queens of the who?

I feel I should say that while I don't really have a problem with Queens of the stone age or the dozens and dozens of other bands out there in popcultureville I just don't find it particularly compelling either. There are just too many incredible bands out there that nobody has heard of that are far, far better(at least in my opinion) than these huge bands.

don't look back

Have you ever heard of French Quarter? The music means quite a bit to me in retrospect. This is one band that Lisa and I could agree on so we listened to it A LOT. Depressing pop songs. Really good stuff!

My heart will go on

For anyone who has read up to the end of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince you absolutely must check out the Scarred for life EP from the band Harry and the Potters. It's basically Harry Potter singing scathing hardcore songs about all the shit that happens in the book. I find it hilarious because it's such a silly idea played so straight. Brilliant! Check out the songs Blood of a Prince and Horcuxus. Of course, while you're at it you should check out everything else on their bandcamp page.

Also, Harry and the Potters are coming to Toronto in a couple of months - if you're in Toronto you should come and see them play with me! Excitement!

Rah Rah!

Have you ever heard of Rah Rah? They're just about my favorite indie rock band at the moment!

Untitled

Woke up on the fucking wrong side of the bed

I started making this one... but stopped because I thought I was being too negative. Then I read it and laughed so I thought it was worth finishing. This comic is so me.

but, LOVE!

127 hours

Have you seen 127 hours yet? It's quite a good film, though, I wouldn't recommend it for the squeamish! I've been a big fan of Danny Boyle since he put out 28 days later. He's got a really awesome style to his movies and the way he uses music has always floored me!

Now go watch some stuff!

The crazy rain storm turned into a crazy snow storm while we got drunk at the B.A. show

Have you ever heard of B.A. Johnston? He writes songs about being white trash and hopeless with women that are often packed with references to old video games and terrible b movies like the classic my heart is a blinking Nintendo. Last night I went to a show of his with my friends Matt and Lara and it was probably the weirdest/funniest show I've ever been to.

I don't know

Are you familiar with Britt Wilson? You should be, she's great!

Ocad zine fair

The fair was really quite small, but I sold more books at it than I did at Canzine. Craziness!

Mediocre Generica

There's a great song by one of my favorite punk bands, Leftover Crack (from whom I stole the name of this comic), called Clear Channel - Fuck off. It sums up what I think about these awful paint by number pop b(r)ands pretty well.

Sick of it all

Hey guys, I'm going to be down at the 3rd annual OCAD zine fair tomorrow from 11am - 5pm! If you're in the Toronto area you should come down and check it out - could be fun!

Job!

So, I've been working at an art supply store for the past month or so. This is a comic I wrote when I found out I had that job which, for whatever reason, I didn't bother finishing until today.
